Vytrus Biotech unveils a new skin-exercising active, shortlisted at in-cosmetics Global 2024


Barcelona, April 2024.- Vytrus Biotech, the company specialized in active ingredients derived from plant stem cells for the cosmetic industry, has recently launched its latest biotech active BAOLIFT™ - Your Skin Workout - shortlisted at the Innovation Awards of in-cosmetics Global 2024.

The biotech company introduces the new ‘Fit-Skin’ concept, unveiling the secret of how physical exercise revitalizes not just the body but also your facial skin. At the core of a ‘Fit Skin’ lie the exerkines, beneficial molecules released during physical activity. Vytrus has identified key exerkines essential for skin rejuvenation, highlighting their roles as extracellular messengers that enhance skin and muscle communication, as well as standing out for its ability to amplify exercise effects, significantly improving skin appearance and resilience.

BAOLIFT™ harnesses these discoveries by mimicking the effects of exercise through the bidirectional network of the Skin-Fascia-Muscle axis. This advanced approach engages both skin and muscle cells with exerkines, delivering exercise-like benefits directly to the skin.

A proven efficacy through clinical studies

Firstly, a clinical assay with a mature panel was carried out by Vytrus Biotech to evaluate the well-ageing effect of the active in the improvement of wrinkles’ appearance, hydration and luminosity of the facial skin.

Volunteers showed a dry skin and clinical evidence of cutaneous aging. The new active BAOLIFT™ was able to achieve great results at 14 and 28 days in the 3 markers (wrinkle reduction and moisturization and radiance increase), thanks to the activation of the exercise in the skin and muscle cells (Fig. 2).

In a second assay, Vytrus evaluated the efficacy of BAOLIFT™ to show a tensor (anti-sagging) and anti-gravity effect on the facial skin to provide an overall V-Lifting effect while increasing the firmness and elasticity of the skin up to 13% and 12% at 28 days.

In this clinical test, a weight was used to exert a known force on the cheek to simulate the effect of gravity on sagging skin. Measured the distance between the line passing through the external corner of the eye and ear and the point of application of the weight is measured. BAOLIFT™ demonstrates its protective effect of a gravity-induced deformation, sustained over time, improving facial skin strength, therefore supporting a greater volume of weight (Fig. 3).

Finally, Vytrus carried out a third clinical test on aged volunteers with loss of elasticity, skin sagging and bags under the eyes.

BAOLIFT™ induced a statistically significant reduction in eye bag volume of up to 12.5% at T28 and 30% at T56. In the context of the Primos CR skin profilometry used as clinical method, the color shift transitioning towards red over the 28-day period indicates a reduction in under-eye bag volume (Fig. 4).

Thanks to the activation of the tissue with all its internal layers (the Skin-Fascia-Muscle axis), there is better circulation of facial fluids and a significant reduction in eye bags.
